How to play Baccarat?
Baccarat is one of most easy-to-play and fun games in online casinos. Many players love it because it carries a low edge for the casino, while others are attracted mostly because of the glamour of Baccarat and its reputation as a sexy game.
Baccarat was a favorite of the French upper classes, who knew the game with the name “chemin de fer,” for centuries. It is still one of the fanciest games out in land based casino. In Las Vegas casinos for example, Baccarat rooms are usually closed off by a velvet rope, VIP service, and have beautiful crystal chandeliers dangling above the table.
Baccarat is played between one player and a dealer, who is referred to as a “banker.” Additional players wager that either the banker or the player will win, or that the game will result in a tie.
The objective of Baccarat is for the sum of a player’s cards to have a total that is as closest to 9, closer than the sum of the other player’s cards. Tens and face cards count as zero points, while the ace is worth 1 point. Number cards are worth their indicated values, nine is nine points, three is three points, etc. If the card total is in the double digits (>10), only the 2nd digit is counted (ex. total of 16 is counted as 6).
The game starts when the player and the banker are dealt two cards each. When the total of the players equals 8 or 9, the hand is a “natural,” and that player wins. When the total is not a “natural”, each player gets a third card to determine the winner.
